Friends of the Library

The Lawrence County Friends of the Library

What is a friends group?- A friends group is a group of volunteers who work on behalf of the library to help provide additional resources and appreciation of it’s services.

The Lawrence County Friends of the Library, Inc. was established on March 26, 1999. Attaining non-profit status the Friends group may solicit funds and collect donations on a tax-free basis.

Supporting the Lawrence County Library, the Friends group is already in pursuit of grants that will support and enhance library services at all three locations: Walnut Ridge, Imboden,  and Lynn.

Without making library policy, the Friends group may rally support of the library and encourage community awareness of the services offered by the library.

What can a Friends group do?-
* Support the basic policies established by the Board of Trustees.
* Provide a broad base of participation for many supporters that every community library has.
* Rally support of library funds or funds from the quorum court or city council.
* Encourage people to read.
